They discuss the thrilling updates from the DVC Resale Market, including the enticing Magic Cash promotion offering a $500 gift card with eligible DVC Resale contract purchases for a limited time. Additionally, they touch on fall bookings with DVC Rental Store and share exciting news about Universal Orlando’s upcoming DreamWorks Land opening this summer!

Special Guest: Jodi Gross

In this special episode, we have Jodi Gross from the DVC Resale Market Team join us. As the first DVC resale agent with the DVC Resale Market, Jodi brings invaluable insight into the journey of DVC resale restrictions.

History of DVC Resale Restrictions

We explore the timeline of DVC resale restrictions, starting from the initial wave in 2011, which limited DVC members to using only two of four collections. Subsequent waves saw changes in the minimum number of points required to access DVC member benefits, with thresholds rising from 25 to 150 points.

The final wave of restrictions in 2019 focused on limiting access to the original 14 DVC resorts for resale contracts submitted after January 19, 2019. Disney Vacation Club resale contracts purchased for the original 14 DVC resorts will only be able to exchange into those 14 existing resorts in the DVC network. These contracts will not be able to exchange into Disney’s Riviera Resort, The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, and possibly additional future properties in the DVC system. Members who purchase a resale of Riviera, Disneyland Hotel, or Fort Wilderness will only be able to stay at their specific deeded home resort. Those Members will also still have access to Interval International.

Here are two great blogs from the DVC Resale Market that details these topics a bit more:

DVC Resale Restrictions and Who is Most Impacted

We highlight the impact of these restrictions on direct purchasers and resale buyers, emphasizing the importance of thorough research before making a purchasing decision. It also really comes down to why you want to become a DVC Member. Most people chose to buy a DVC Contract because it is the smartest way to stay at Deluxe Resort for the best price, the benefit of buying resale is it takes the savings even further allowing guest to be a part of the magic for a fraction of the cost!

Ultimately, this episode underscores the significance of understanding DVC resale restrictions and making informed decisions that align with your family’s vacation needs.
